Design Eye was created to expose and educate youth, particularly minority youth, about graphic design, encouraging them to realize their creativity and to pursue career paths in the creative world.
A solution to the lack of diversity in the design industry and general lack of design awareness, Design Eye is an effective platform for art and design educators to use to grow their students.
According to the 2019 Design Census, a survey composed by AIGA and Google, only 0.2% of designers are Native American/Pacific Islander, 3% are Black American, 5% are Multi-racial, 8% are Latinx, and 9% are Asian.

Deon Mixon
FOUNDER + CEO
A keen graphic designer, author, and educator, Deon drives the brand forward with his immense creativity and love for youth leadership. He is an alumnus of Cass Tech and Western Michigan University with his BFA in Graphic Design. He lives in Detroit with his wife Justice and two daughters Dri and Ju, and they all follow Jesus. Deon believes Naruto is the best anime ever and really enjoys watching movies.

CMO
A passionate interior designer and entrepreneur, Justice supports Deon with all things business and exposure with her remarkable social skills. She is an alumna of Wayne State University with her BSBA in Marketing and graduate student at Liberty University pursuing her MBA in Leadership. She lives in Detroit with her husband Deon and two daughters Dri and Ju, and they all follow Jesus. Justice is very competitive at games and truly makes the best corn bread.
